I have been occupied with this magnificent game over the past 2 weeks or so and am now very close to finishing it!

However today, for the first time in a couple of years, I managed to let my dog off the lead in the park with other dogs and I still have a dog! He used to be off lead when he was a baby and was very good, then started wondering and not coming back. And since last year when he was attacked by a staff he’s been very funny towards other dogs. Luckily, today on the way back from leaving my car at the garage to be serviced I saw an old friend, Inetta, who had a beautiful golden retriever and used to walk with us years ago. She had Benji, the GR, and now a new addition, Kenny, another GR. She was also looking after Lara, a miniature schnauzer. She is now running two dog training classes and has a little 4 month old boy, Kayden.
She convinced me to go get Milo and she took hold of him and let him off the lead as she was confident and I was still scared that he was going to growl and possibly go for the other dogs but he was fine with a confident person. He’s so happy, and it was so lovely sitting out in the sun with the dogs running off lead. Finally!
I’ve been on a diet for the past 25 days (according to My Fitness Pal) and just through cutting down to 1300 calories per day I’ve lost 6 lbs so far. I’m now under 11 stone! I joined a gym and am going to try to go at least 3 times a week to try and get rid of another 12lbs to get me down to 10 stone to begin with. Had my induction today and Shane (personal trainer) taught me how to use the equipment and set me out a training programme. He’s reviewing me and my weight in 7 weeks to which he’ll change my programme, but he said I should really quickly lose the weight, especially as I’ve already lost 6lbs this quickly. I can’t wait, and once I’ve lost a bit and gained some more confidence then at least I can swim again.
I can’t wait to feel good about myself again and fit into my old clothes!
Update from this previous post.
Got Millie back from the vets tonight.
The vets found nothing at the back of her throat - no grass, no redness or swelling or anything so they did x-rays while she was under, still found nothing, she’s a healthy girl. They found some bloody mucous at the back of her throat so its being sent off for cultures to see if it’s anything. But she’s so dopey - her back legs aren’t working at the same time as her front at the moment and she keeps hooking her tail onto things and then falling asleep! She hasn’t left me alone since she got in and is now fast asleep on my chest. I missed her and love having her back.
I came home earlier today to walk the dog and check on the house and whatnot while my mum and brother were at work/college and heard Millie having a coughing fit so I went upstairs and sat with her. She had a really bad sneezing fit and then carried on coughing, sneezing and swallowing funny and kept licking her lips a lot. I rang the vet and took her down to the hospital branch which is half an hour’s drive from me. She yelled the whole way down.
I saw a lovely vet I’ve seen once before with the guinea pigs, Shannon.
She managed to get a look down her throat and couldn’t see anything, but then said that they would like to keep her in overnight to observe her because she hadn’t coughed or sneezed properly while she was on the table - probably because the adrenaline released while stressed opened the airways etc.
Shannon said that sometimes when cats eat grass it doesn’t go down right and it can come back up, curl around and go back into the nasal passage and then they can’t get it out by coughing and sneezing. She said this is the probably cause. She needs to put Millie under anaesthetic tomorrow to do this procedure because due to her age she can’t be sedated to the point she needs to be to get a tube down her throat. If there is no grass there they are going to x-ray her chest and check to see if there are any polyps or tumours in there because of her age. The bill is looking at £800 (luckily she’s insured - but with all our animals money is no object).
I cried my heart out when they said they wanted to keep her in. I hate being without her.
Wish her all the luck in the world.
On Thursday after work, I was parked on the main road (I couldn’t get a space in the usual road I park). I was sitting in my car with the engine on, stationary, waiting for a space to pull out. A lorry was waiting at the end letting cars through, and this woman in a dark green mini cooper nipped round me and clipped my wing mirror, really hard. It made me jump the noise it made. I managed to pull out one car behind her and followed her until I got her number plate. When I got home I checked my wing mirror and the back is cracked and it sits at a really dodgy angle. My car is worth £4,000 so the wing mirror costs a lot to replace!
I rang the police and asked what I should do because it was a hit and run; they took her number plate and will find her and get her to pay.
Yesterday morning my mum came to me and said that Millie was acting very strangely. She was panting and gulping like she had a furball coming, and she hadn’t cleaned herself as her coat was greasy. I called the vet and then took her in. By the time I took her in (about an hour and a half after - I’d called the vet for advice and they said see how she goes) she was looking a lot better; she’d curled up with me and was purring for ages. The vet gave her an anti-inflammatory injection as it didn’t look like there was anything stuck in her throat. Took her home and she’s been fine. Couldn’t work out why, but then my mum found a dead bee in her bed so we think Millie might have tried to eat it and got stung. It’s happened once before.
Millie isn’t the most intelligent of cats - she has no radar - other cats tend to know if there is another cat in the room and when we had Tigger she never realised where he was and would bump into him, which was always disastrous as she hated him. Millie can’t catch things very well whereas Tigger was very good - and never went for bees and wasps.
Today, I was on the way home from work down the side roads after getting petrol. It’s one of those roads where traffic has to weight at the other end letting oncoming traffic through. When it was my turn to go, I went and then saw a truck coming over the roundabout. I stopped where there was a gap in front of me to the right; the only gap in the road. He decided to not stop in the gap, but try and squeeze past me. I just stared at him and had to pull in my (damaged) wing mirror to let him past, and while he was going past I said to him, ‘Why couldn’t you have just pulled in?’ and he went and mimicked me, then speed off, catching the rear wing of my car and leaving a deep scrape. I couldn’t get his number plate.
Worst week in the world.
Not to mention, one of my headlights have gone so I have to order a new bulb.
They say bad things go in threes.
Update on last week.
Milo’s acupuncture is going well - he’s only had one session of cramp since the acupuncture started which is brilliant. We found out last week that the cause of his ‘cramp’ might be the fact that his kneecaps move quite a bit more than they are supposed to. The groove in the knee joint where the kneecap sits might not be deep enough so instead of a cramp, his kneecap might actually be popping out of place. If this were the case he would have to have surgery to make the groove deeper so it would sit properly in place.
The car was in the garage last week and I got a whole new catalytic converter put on, but while I was driving it home I heard an even worse sound so I rang them up and they had the car back in today and sorted that. Finally I have a normal sounding car!
Saw McFly on Saturday - they were brilliant! Such a fun band. The set was filmed too so I’m not sure if it will come out on DVD or anything.
We have had some horrible weather this week - thunder and tonnes of rain. Milo is not a happy dog at all. Currently it is black outside, I just missed the rain coming home from the vets.
Had my rose on the back of my leg coloured in on Friday and it looks gorgeous. Was painful but I’m glad it’s finally done. Everything in blue apart from the fold ups of the leaves that we haven’t decided on a colour yet. When it’s healed they’re going to colour me in with sharpie to decide on a colour.
And my cat has a poo accident, and drags it all into my bed. I was covered, a whole duvet, not just the cover, has now been shoved into the washing machine on the intensive cycle and all my sheets have been changed. I had to pretty much bath the cat.
One of the downsides of having a longhaired cat; when they get an upset tummy, it goes everywhere.
Haven’t updated in a little while!
My mum has gone away to Germany with my brother to see my Gran for the Easter holidays so I’m currently looking after the little zoo.
Milo (the dog) had acupuncture for the first time last week. We went in absolutely terrified because we thought we were going to have to wrestle him to the floor to let Hannah (vet) put the needles in but he was so relaxed it was unreal. He gets cramps in his back legs and we can’t work out why. He doesn’t have a certain trigger that sets it off; sometimes he’s sleeping and suddenly the cramps hit or he can be walking and it comes on so at the moment, he’s just being treated as a preventative. Since his first session last week he’s only had cramp once. I’m taking him back to the vets tonight for his second session.
Had to take my car into the garage this morning. She’s had a metal on metal rattling sound since I got her in January so she’s still under warranty. I’m waiting for the call back. They think it’s a loose exhaust bracket but this morning his said I might need a whole new catalytic converter, which doesn’t bother me too much as I won’t be paying for it. I’d be quite glad if I can get a new one, so at least that bit is new and probably guaranteed not to break on me in the near future!
I got my tongue pierced on Monday. I’m still in a little bit of pain but the swelling is starting to go down and I ate something solid last night for the first time since Monday morning. It’s very difficult!
Hopefully getting the rose tattoo on my leg filled in on Friday - the apprentice Donna started it in February but only managed to get the outline done as we were doing it while the shop was still open and we were both working. I’m popping up at 6 on Friday to see if we can get it finished that night. We’re both going to stay late to try and get it finished. Can’t wait.
Had a poker night at a friend’s house last Friday - I came second and won £30! I’ve never got anywhere close to winning before so I was pretty stoked. He only won on the last card drawn as well, I was so close!
I pick up new glasses later before I take Milo to the vets, I’m looking forward to new ones because my current ones hurt my nose.
Went to see Lostprophets last week, and saw You Me At Six on Monday. Both were brilliant, as per! Seeing McFly on Saturday.
Kat out.
Curled up in bed with the other half watching Heroes, drinking tea and dunking biscuits.
I got my nipple pierced today.
I didn’t hurt as much as I thought it would. It’s really quite painful now though!
While having Netflix for the free trial month, we’ve watched everything under the sun.
Recently have been watching and got through all 4 seasons of Heroes. Become quite attached to Zachary Quinto.
I never wanted to watch Heroes when it was on TV; I thought it was rubbish at the time, but I think now it was only just because I was too young. Now I think it’s brilliant.
I bathed the tortoise today, and then polished his shell because he wouldn’t eat. I put him back into his tortie box and he proceeded to run around it angrily for an hour and then munch all of his food down. He doesn’t like me much at the moment, I scrubbed him with a sponge.
My boyfriend is gorgeous; he met me from work Monday night, I took everything upstairs to our room and came in to these on the table.
I love him.
Had to get the extraction site of where they took out my wisdom tooth out checked over to make sure it was healing properly. Found out I have to have another one of my wisdom teeth out because it’s growing at an angle into the side of my mouth. Nice. He said he could have done it then but I freaked out because I have to work today and have a hospital appointment tomorrow so said I’ll wait.
The other half has an endoscopy today to find out why he’s so ill at the moment, and I’m really upset I can’t be there because I couldn’t get the time off of work. :(
So, the new software update wants me to delete 1GB of my data - music, apps, photos - just to install? I’m sorry Apple, isn’t my iPhone meant to be a 16GB of my own data? You already take 2.3GB up at the beginning, now this is a rip off.
